Acceptable use policy

Last updated 24 October 2026

These rules apply to everyone who uses Smaz Games (smazgames.com): players, developers and advertisers. Smaz Games is owned and run by Saratoga Games. They form part of the Player terms, the Developer agreement and the Advertiser terms.

Conduct

Do not:

  • Harass, threaten, bully or groom anyone, or target people because of their race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or other protected characteristic.
  • Post or share sexual content involving minors. We report it to the authorities.
  • Share another person's personal information or contact details without their permission.
  • Impersonate another person, use someone else's account, or get around a block or suspension.
  • Send spam, unwanted advertising or pressure people into friend requests.
  • Make false or coordinated reports.
  • Harass, threaten or abuse other players in multiplayer games, including through chat, names or game actions aimed at a particular player.

Accounts and profiles

Usernames, display names, bios and profile pictures must not contain hateful or sexual material, impersonate a real person, include contact details or advertise something. Only upload images you have the right to use.

Fair play and security

  • Do not cheat in a way that harms other players, or exploit bugs to damage the site, games or other players' progress.
  • Do not use bots or scripts to fake plays, votes, rewards or ad views.
  • Do not manipulate ratings or votes, for example with several accounts, by trading votes, or by paying or asking people to rate a game a certain way. Developers must not rate their own games or arrange ratings for them.
  • Do not farm badges by automating play, leaving games running unattended to build up time, or creating accounts to earn or boost badges.
  • Do not post invite links publicly to disrupt games, use them to spam people, or try to guess or reuse invite codes to join games you were not invited to.
  • Do not try to access other players' accounts, saves, profiles, notifications or messages, or developer data. Finding a URL does not give you permission to use it.
  • Do not interfere with the site, overload it or test its security without our written agreement.

If you find a security problem, report it to [email protected]. Do not use it, publish it or ask for payment in exchange for keeping it private.

Playtests

Unreleased games in playtests are confidential. Do not share, stream, screenshot, record or publicly describe a playtest build, or share access to it, unless the developer has said you may. Developers must not share, publish or download playtest recordings, or use them to identify or contact testers.

Games

Developers may only submit games and media they have the right to distribute. Games must be suitable for players aged 13 and over. We do not accept:

  • Pirated games, clones that mislead players, or stolen art, music or code.
  • Malware, hidden cryptocurrency mining or unrelated background work on the player's device.
  • Pornography, real-money gambling, sale of illegal goods, shock content, or content that glorifies violence against protected groups.
  • Hidden tracking, device fingerprinting, attempts to match or identify players across games or sites, or collecting player email addresses.
  • Network services or external links that were not declared and approved in review.
  • Game pages, images or videos that misrepresent the game, its devices or its awards, ratings or player numbers.

Payments, ads and analytics at launch

At launch, none of the following are approved inside games:

  • In-game purchases, subscriptions, paid unlocks or any other way of taking money from players.
  • Links or buttons to payment, store, donation or crowdfunding pages.
  • Third-party ads, ad SDKs or other games sites' SDKs. Rewarded ads are allowed only through the Smaz Games SDK, when the player chooses to watch one.
  • Third-party analytics or tracking code. Games send gameplay events through the Smaz Games SDK instead.

We will update this policy before any of these are allowed.

Chat between players

  • Free-text chat is allowed only for signed-in adults with a verified email address.
  • Guests and players under 18 may get only preset messages and emotes, or no chat.
  • Player text that is shown to others, including names, must be filtered for profanity, and every player must be able to mute and report other players.
  • No private messages between players unless both are adults, no voice or video chat, and no links, images or files in chat.

Developers must declare violence, horror, mature language, gambling-like mechanics, chat, multiplayer servers, external accounts and any personal data the game collects. An approved game must not be changed afterwards to show different content or call different services without a new review.

Advertising

Ads must be clearly identifiable as ads. They must not imitate game controls, download buttons or system warnings, or use pop-unders, forced redirects, autoplay sound, malware or hidden tracking. We do not accept ads for adult content, gambling, tobacco or vaping, illegal drugs or weapons, high-risk financial products, predatory lending or political campaigns. Ads must not be targeted at children or use profiling of players known to be under 18.

Reporting

Use the “Something not right? Report it” button on a game page, or email [email protected]. Describe what happened and where. To report a copyright or trademark problem, see Copyright and intellectual property. Do not send us illegal material as evidence. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

What we do

When these rules are broken we may remove content, remove badges or ratings, ask for changes, turn off social features, reject or unlist a game, suspend a campaign, or suspend or close an account. We act in proportion to the problem. A report alone does not prove a rule was broken, and a rejected game does not by itself mean its developer is banned. We do not take earned, undisputed money as a penalty.

Where it is safe and lawful, we tell you what we did, why, and how to appeal. Appeal by emailing [email protected] within 30 days. We do not tolerate retaliation against anyone who reports in good faith.

We do not monitor everything on the site at all times and cannot guarantee that every game or message is safe.
