The Signal
A roguelike deckbuilder where you don't play cards at enemies. You attach them to yourself.
The Signal is a single-player roguelike deckbuilder about rewiring yourself mid-run. Cards don't go at the enemy. They go into the bays of your own character, and every fight resolves from the body you have built. Attach a card to a full bay and the card already there is cut, losing its numbers at the moment the new card adds its own. So the decision each turn is which part of yourself you are willing to give up. Nothing you attach lasts. Every attached card gains Heat each turn: at 10 it degrades, and at 20 it burns out. Speed decides both when you act and how deep into the enemy line you can reach. The descent is ten rooms in a fixed order, with elites in rooms 3 and 6, twin elites in room 8, and the final boss, CLIPPING, in room 10. Before each run you build a 20-card deck and can stake up to three of your cards for better drops, which you lose if you die early. Every card, enemy and story scene has its own ink painting. Cards you win go into a collection that carries over between runs.

Controls
Goal: clear all ten rooms. You have one pool of health (VIT) for the whole run, and you get some back when you clear a room. Each turn: DRAW: take one of the top two cards. The other goes to the bottom of your deck. PLAY: attach a card to an empty bay (LEAD +1 SPD, CORE +1 GRD, TAIL +1 ATK), drop it on a full bay to cut the card already there, or pass. ATTACK: you and every enemy act once, fastest first. Mouse: click buttons, cards and the action dial; drag cards onto bays; right-click a card to see it large; hover underlined words for definitions. Touch: tap, drag cards onto bays, long-press a card to see it large. LEARN on the menu runs the tutorial, and GLOSSARY explains every term.
