Monetization policy
Revenue share is not active
Important: Smaz Games does not pay developers at present. No payments are made until a revenue-share schedule is published and you accept it.
When a schedule is ready it will be published as an addition to the Developer agreement. It will set out how revenue is calculated, the share, payment timing, thresholds and taxes, and it applies only once you accept it. Nothing on Smaz Games promises any amount, traffic or earnings before then.
Publishing on Smaz Games is free and not exclusive. You can publish your game anywhere else, including sites where it earns money.
Ads Smaz Games shows
Smaz Games shows advertising around games, not inside them.
- When ads are on, desktop game pages can show a banner below the player and two spaces beside the game details.
- Mobile game pages show no display ads.
- Ads never appear inside your game's frame, never cover the game and never play while a player is in the middle of a game unless the player chose a rewarded ad.
- Signed-in players under 18 receive only non-personalised ads.
- Ads must follow the advertising rules in the Acceptable use policy.
You do not need to do anything for these ads.
Ads inside games
- Rewarded ads: allowed only through the SDK's
showRewardedAd(), only when the player chooses to watch one, and only when the site has rewarded ads available. See Ads for the rules. - Midgame ads: not enabled.
showMidgameAd()resolves at once without an ad. - Banners inside the game: not offered.
- Any other ad code is not allowed: no ad networks, ad SDKs, other game sites' SDKs, house-ad cross-promotion networks, affiliate links or sponsorship splash screens that link out.
Payments inside games
At launch, games on Smaz Games must not take money from players in any way. This means:
- No in-game purchases, including currency, items, lives, skins, level packs or ad removal.
- No subscriptions, season passes or paid unlocks.
- No links or buttons to payment, store, donation or crowdfunding pages, including your game on other stores.
- No cryptocurrency, NFTs or blockchain rewards.
- No real-money gambling, and no loot boxes or wheels that can be bought.
In-game currencies earned by playing, and shops that spend them, are fine. So is a credits screen that names your studio. A future policy may allow purchases through the SDK; until then, remove purchase features from the build you upload.
Links to your studio
You may link to your studio's website, your social media pages and your game's privacy policy from a credits or about screen. List each site under Outside addresses on the upload form and open links with the SDK's openExternalLink, which asks the player first. Do not link to pages whose main purpose is selling something.
Analytics
Smaz Games shows you plays, players, play time and retention for your games on your dashboard, and sends your SDK events to Google Analytics. You can ask for your own Google Analytics 4 property to receive your game's events. Games must not include tracking or analytics scripts. See Analytics events.
